Fabric Care Guide
Your handmade pieces deserve a little love. Follow these simple steps to keep your batik and aso oke looking beautiful for years.
Batik Fabric Care
- First wash: hand wash alone in cold water. Batik dyes can bleed a little at first — this is normal.
- Always use cold or lukewarm water with a mild detergent. No bleach, ever.
- Wash inside out, with like colors.
- Don't wring it — gently press the water out instead.
- Dry in the shade. Direct sun fades the colors over time.
- Iron on medium heat, inside out. A pressing cloth adds extra protection.
Aso Oke Care
- Dry clean is the safest option, especially for pieces with metallic strips.
- If you must hand wash: cold water only, very mild detergent, no wringing, no bleach.
- Never machine wash — the agitation damages the weave and dulls metallic threads.
- Dry flat in the shade, never in direct sun.
- Iron on low heat with a pressing cloth. Keep direct heat off metallic strips.
- Store folded (not hanging — heavy pieces stretch), and keep perfume away from metallic threads.
